February is a tough time to lead people. There’s the year-end around the corner, bringing with it budget tenseness and tersity. Add in the terrible weather, and you can find yourself in a bit of a pickle.
But, February is also home to my very favourite day of the year- Valentine’s Day. Some say it is an over commercialised, meaningless, and corporate way to sell more chocolates. I disagree. Whilst one absolutely could tell your SO "I love you" and buy flowers any day of the year, the real question is- do you? And do you remind your strongest team members just how great they are, and reward and empower them? Do you tell people that they are cracking, just because you can?
So, whilst it might be miserably cold outside, I encourage you to take last week's positive Valentine’s energy and use it to hi-five your good ones. You never know how much it might mean to them.
Thank you again to those who have sent in questions. Today the theme is defending your team- one of the less glamorous sides of people management.
