We are not an elf on the shelf family. I like to be a mum of carrots, not a mum of sticks. As I watch many families setting up elves night after night, I can understand the fun, but not the message. I’d rather my kids were well behaved because they see the value for themselves and a reward at the end- instead of a fear of a punitive Santa.
This is something I try to take into workplace culture with me. I’d love the people in the team to do good work because they want to, and because they see the reward- that ‘the juice is worth the squeeze’, as it were.
